High-performance camp companion
Not even the puffiest down jacket can compare with the warmth of a good down sleeping bag. Problem is, sleeping bags aren’t really made for wandering around camp, unless you’re prepared to hop about like you’re competing in some sort of bizarre campground sack race. There is one exception though – Sierra Designs’ awesome Mobile Mummy. As the name suggests, it’s a wearable mummy-style sleeping bag with a practical centre-front zipper, armholes at either side and a tuck-away footbox that enables you to wander at will whilst still staying warm and cosy. You can sit, stand, read a book and enjoy a cup of coffee, all without getting out of your sleeping bag. And unlike inferior rivals, the Mobile Mummy is a viable option for properly cold camps, with a -3°C comfort limit and a -9°C lower limit. That’s due to its lofty 800 fill power down insulation and advanced baffle construction. A technical bag with fun and practical features, there’s really nothing else like it

Maybe it’s no wonder that the state of California has been the cradle for so many great American outdoor brands. Sandwiched between the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Nevada mountains, and encompassing no less than nine US National Parks, the Golden State has long been a mecca for outdoor adventurers of every ilk. Sierra Designs is a case in point. California was the natural place for the brand’s co-founders, a pair of young outdoor aficionados named George Marks and Bob Swanson, to set up shop.
They first met in late 1963 at while working at The Ski Hut in Berkeley, CA. Two years later, Sierra Designs was born. Today, the brand continues to create outdoor equipment and apparel that is functional, beautiful, and most importantly, attainable, enabling outdoor lovers throughout the USA and beyond to hit the trail and fill their souls with a sense of wanderlust.
